Campus Word Cards
‘Campus Word Cards’ is a typological study on the words that surrounds us at Lasalle. This series explores how language shapes a community; words that we encounter on a daily basis exists in a semi-permanent way, such as way-finding signs, words on vending machines, and the graphic tees that our friends wear, have a subconscious effect on the way we perceive the world around us.

Language shapes our thoughts and therefore, actions. I am interested in how words stand by themselves in the face of a student community that is mainly made up of people who do not have English as their first language. The semantics of the words are therefore influenced by not just the word itself, but the way it is presented; font, colours, placement, size and the reader.
